Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am putting together a compilation of recipes (with the eventual goal of getting rid of ALL my cookbooks and gathered bits and pieces of papers and notes -- they're everywhere, argh!) ... and would love for others to test them, if you are so inclined.

If you're interested, please reply below and include how you want the recipes -- here on the forum, or on a blog, or on an e-list. If I get enough people I'll do one or more of the above. Otherwise I'll just PM/e-mail you.

Right now I'm working on

Fall
Saints for September, October, November
Authors having their birthdays in Sep/Oct/Nov
Artists having their birthdays in Sep/Oct/Nov
Composers' birthdays Sep/Oct/Nov
Ancient cuisines (specifically Egypt, Greece, Rome and China)
Countries A-C (not all included)
States A-C
Healthy cooking (some allergy free)
Kid-Friendly

Caveat: I can't "sift" recipes (e.g., can't send ONLY healthy recipes, for instance), and I'd really appreciate some feedback (easy/hard, kid-friendly/not, etc.). Also, I'm just working on this when time permits, so the recipes may not be "on schedule", IOW, I might send you a recipe for October 3, James Herriot's birthday, today, instead of on the day of or the week before.... but I'll do my best to match recipes/days or even send them in advance.

Thank you!

I am really interested in this...I'll ask my baker (age 9) and my cook (age 12) to see if they would do this with me...

Also, right now we're listening to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in a little mini-chocolate unit study....I learned that Roald Dahl was born on September 13, 1916....just thought I'd mention it in case you didn't have it already....plus, who doesn't like chocolate????

This is so neat Stef.

I'm a failure at following recipes though at best I manage to use them as guidelines.

BUT my 12 yr old might use some.

If you wanted to send them to me I could have her try some.

I'd love to test some but I KNOW I wouldn't be able to do all of them. I'd like them in a PDF/Pages/Word file (I have a mac).

Oh, just reread the OP. This forum would be fine for where to print them.

I'm interested in this! I would like it as an e-list, only because emails are easier to sort/save/print than forum discussions.

Sounds like fun!

How fun!

Don't know how many I can test (all beef recipes are out, for ex., as dh can't eat it), but I'd love to try at least a few!

E-list is good.

I was just thinking of doing something like this for our family. Life seems to go much more smoothly when meals are planned...Is this something you are doing for yourself or is this something you are thinking of publishing?

If we say yes, will be a 'deadline' for making the recipe? We tend to eat pretty simply and finding time/ingredients for a fancy dessert, for example, might be prohibitive.

Yay!!!

I'll post some here on the forum but the bulk I'll put on an e-list.

Perfectly okay to not test everything -- hah, if I could have done that, this post wouldn't be here! Even I cook/bake something new EVERY SINGLE DAY for the rest of my life, I won't get to cook all the recipes I've kept here at home (should I call this "Confessions of a Recipe Hoarder"). My goal here is to simplify my life. If it simplifies your life too, great!

Right now, no plans of publishing, but I did want to get feedback, because I'm limiting myself to 100 recipes per season -- i've got some copies, some "inspired by" and some originals. I figure whatever feedback I can get here will determine whether the recipe's a keeper or not.

No plans of publishing at the moment, because I've set that goal too many times in the past, and for whatever reason am always unable to continue... so I'm just going to take this one day at a time, one recipe at a time. If at some point it might be beneficial to others to publish, I might consider. But right now, it's really just for me and the fam. (And you wonderful people )

Ooooh, and Maria, I didn't have Roald Dahl on my list, but you're right, who does NOT like chocolate? I'll start you off with my #1 fave:

Baked Hot Chocolate -- that's my blog post -- and the link to the recipe is in there. I've made it for some friends for a packaged anniversary dinner, and they LOVED-LOVED-LOVED it.

ETA: I thought I had put a THANK YOU in here, but apparently not.

THANK YOU!!!!

Stef ... how fun is this? We'd love to help ... we often do cooking math (and meal prep ) at the same time so this will be a great way to kill multiple fowl with the proverbial single stone.
