Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Tonight some of us are having stuffed shells, from Costco, bread, the broccoli we didn't have last night, and a salad. I'm sending dd13 to a party with a cheese pizza.

What's cooking at your house??

I am thinking about Homemade Mac N' Cheese. We always had that growing up, Dad thought if you are going to abstain you need to not replace meat with fancy food. The Mac N' Cheese recipe was good, just plain-Jane.

I forgot it was Friday!    Thanks for the reminder.

Something with pasta and mushrooms...the recipe is still germinating in my head.

Peace,
Sara

Pizza on naan and maybe oven fries? It depends how many we've got here for dinner. A friend and my BiL might be here for dinner, but no guarantees.

I'm scrapping the shells and picking up two pizzas at Costco and maybe a bottle of red wine too.

I am feeling icky so nothing is coming to mind. We are all suffering from allergies here so I would like to make a soup but all of the meatless soups I know of are cream based which we try to avoid when we are feeling phlegm-ish.

Charlotte, If you have veg broth, you can make an egg drop soup and add some small pasta? You can even add some spinach?

We are having rotini with zesty marinara sauce and texas toast. (and some red wine!)

We love the frozen Mystic Pizzas that Costco carries. So the kids voted for that over fish sticks !

We're having pizza here, too... one cheese, and one spinach, mushroom with a big caesar salad.

I love how we all grab cheese pizzas every other Friday!

We are having fish sticks for the 1st time. We shall see how it goes! Also roasted potatoes and steamed broccoli.

ETA: The boys loved them, but admitted that they liked the tartar sauce more.

Seafood Kra Pow and Shrimp Pad Thai from the local Thai restaurant. I was going to make mushroom ravioli with broccoli and alfredo sauce but I spent all afternoon cleaning the kitchen and washing dishes and I couldn't face another mountain of dishes post-dinner ... so we've got takeout on Chinet. Just waiting for hubby to get back downstairs from putting the baby to bed and we can dig in! I'm really hungry ....

Well, I WAS going to have grilled cheese, but then I decided to be nice and leave the sandwich bread for Pete this weekend while I'm gone.      What a *generous* wife I am .

So, we're having broccoli quiche.

Well, I had sesame encrusted ahi tuna in a little tiki hut restaurant overlooking the bay at sunset. Warm ocean breezes and island music playing.
I must admit. It didn't feel much like penance.

We ended up enjoying a huge pan of baked ziti (with ricotta cheese swirled into the tomato sauce).

I'm with Theresa. If it's supposed to be a penitential meal, I failed miserably. I learned to make this dish in Italy (where penance is not really associated with food!).

For us, a penitential meal would be beef and rutabagas. I'm just saying.

cat food and popcorn

a.k.a tuna sandwiches

we've fed our cat canned tuna as a special treat once in a while since we first took her in and so the kids have called it cat food for nearly 8 years now.
