Tonight we are having pork tenderloin. I have to search some past threads for the marinade Charlotte shared. If the lettuce looks ok we'll have salad too, I better check that before we head to swimming and CGS so I can get some fresh if we need it. Last night we ended up driving through the golden arches  the meat I pulled out was bad.  Elizabeth was nice enough to walk over and tell me that grass fed beef should not smell like that.

Mike's actually going to be home for dinner at dinner time tonight. Seems like I should make somehthing special. I considered trying to adapt Obama's inaugural lunch because it was an adaptation of a Lincoln meal and it's Lincoln's birthday. But, I have been up since four and it's likely I'll crash and burn before I can carry off a big cooking project.I've no brain cells firing, so to speak. So, I'm counting on you ladies for a simple, fun, and festive idea. No pressure.

Oh MC I'm sorry. Although my kids love the golden arches and beg for it everyday? You'd think it was even a remote possibility to go everyday. We go occasionally when we leave the house... and we hardly leave the house, so I'm always befuddled that even the glimmer of hope of fried food prompts them to ask...
Anyway...away game tonight, recovering Mommy and recovering kids, we're pulling out frozen stir fry or frozen ravioli.

I wanted to do something Lincolnish also, but I can't say I'm really inspired either. I did make this on Inauguration, with out the little picture though.

Dinner: Dropping a roast in my dutch oven to brown and then cooking it all day in wine, beef stock, garlic, mushrooms, and carrots. Super easy and super yum! We'll have it over white Arborio rice with a side of those super yummy sweet potato fries we've fallen in love with (thanks to all of you!   ) and a nice, big, cold cucumber salad! Tonight is an in-house date night...so I serve the kids dinner and then Rob and I eat after the kids go to bed with candlelight and the rest of that bottle of wine!
Lunch: grilled ham and cheese sandwiches, vanilla yogurt, applesauce.
Breakfast was a free-for-all!

I'm going to make plain old steak and gravy with mashed potatoes with glazed carrots. My husband comes home tomorrow (yay!) so maybe I'll feel like cooking again.

Breakfast was old fashioned oatmeal with brown sugar, and a few swigs of Emergen-C for all - as a cold seems to be descending upon our household...
Lunch - pasta with oil and cheese and a tossed salad.
dinner - kids will be having pizza. Dh and I have a 'sweetheart' dinner with 70 of our fellow parishioners after mass at a fancy smancy restaurant. New York strip for him, Chicken breast Georgio's for me. (and maybe a little wine!)

Italian wedding soup is on the menu. Madeline is sleeping the morning away after being well yesterday, which is making me nervous. I'm trying to keep myself on track, although I'm not sure where the track is. Sorta. Maybe?
We had pancakes for breakfast. Lunch??? I guess I'll see when she wakes up.

Tuna noodle casserole with salad. Very uninventive. I'm in the planning for two weeks at a time mode and everything is repeating each night (ykwim). I'm lucky I get it planned and don't have repeating meats or sides next to each other, so I haven't figured out how to throw in the fun dates too. That's the next challenge.

Teriyaki London Broil. It needed to be used up. We are getting a new shipment of grassfed beef from our friendly northern CA rancher (Lazy 69 Ranch) next week--hooray! We'll have pilaf, brocolli and corn with it.
The rest of the meals...no plan at all!

Tonight is a quick favorite: Tortollini with Pink Vodka Sauce.  French bread, salad. I want to make that sponge cake, but I'm teaching a painting lesson this afternoon and have 2 clingy little guys so I don't see it happening.
However, wasn't Honest Abe born in Kentucky? I think that bourbon will be on my menu...and fortunately I have some in my pantry since a certain someone recommended it as a method to induce labor. It didn't help my labor, btw, but it sure tasted good!

Probably potato, broccoli and cheese soup. I'm bulk cooking (I should be starting right now, and I'm doing stuffed potatoes, soup, coffee cake (our normal breakfast, alternated with cereal), and sponge cake. Maybe bread tomorrow?
We had cereal and toast for breakfast. My husband's sick, so he'll have chicken noodle soup for dinner.

Oh dear coffee cake sounds good, Kyra. I don't know the first thing about making coffee cake so I am impressed!!
Anyway, we are having buffalo chili (nice and spicy made with bison meat) and cheesy toast. Maybe a salad, depending on the state of the lettuce.
