I have 2 rolling swivel chairs with removed backs that are no longer cleaning up well. I would like to cover them as easily and quickly with something that I can remove and wash. I thought a stool cover would work but I don't want to spend the money. Any other ideas on options I could purchase or how I would make them? Thanks!

Love,

For seatcovers you can wrap the fabric around the seat and use a staple gun on the bottom. It is easy to do, but what you want is muscle--I have my husband pull down very hard, especially on the last piece, while I staple it (I've done this a few times, you can see :)). The fabric will stretch and loosen a lot when sat on so you want it very tight.

I use heavy cotton (home dec type) or denim for this.

OK you can't remove these--but they are easy, cheap and no-sew, you can do them in an evening. I just get out the SHOUT and a rag when needed YOu could also put a layer of clear plastic over the fabric, or there might be some kind of iron on plastic???

Thanks, Angela, for permission to go easy, cheap, and no-sew . I might put some plastic or protective cover *under* the material and staple them both on. It seems that I can't spot clean these seats anymore because stains are in the cushion and they just keep resurfacing. I'm getting closer!

Love,

Ooh this is great advice. I have been wanting to do this to our dining room chairs - they are ivory (bought pre-children!!!) - or maybe I should say they are supposed to be ivory!!! I will have to figure out how to get the seats of the chairs first thoug.

Marilyn that's easy really.. just flip them upside down and you should be able to see just what needs done to get them off. Same as Angela said.

I was going to say for removeable if you got a good stretchy fabric you could make a double circle a bit smaller than the seat.. cut out the center of one circle, sew the two circles together on the outside and then elastic on the cutout of the one circle and just pull it over the seat.. but I'm not sure how stretchy the fabric would need to be or how tight the bottom circle could be to get it to stay on well.
