Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm finishing up two long overdue projects and I'm itching to make something useful for myself. I'm back to thinking about Truly Tasha's Shawl but I also think it's a bit small. I think I like something that is longer and more drapey. Perhaps I'm thinking of a stole or wrap? I'm not sure.

I don't know how to define it. There are

Shawls
Wraps
Stoles
Capes
Capelets

Can anyone specifically define the characteristics of each, so I can figure out what I want?

Jenn -- you might try googling-image each type and see the pictures that come up ... wraps and stoles are usually rectangular, while shawls CAN be rectangular, triangular, square, circular, etc.

Capes and capelets are usually more rounded with a cape going past your hips and a capelet stopping more around the waist or hip ...

But these are really interchangeable now-a-days!

Good suggestion, Mary. I was just hoping there was an easy answer, but you have confirmed my fears that "shawl" is used quite liberally as a label.
