Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I am on the search for Saints and Religious Halloween costume patterns. Free patterns or ideas are what I am looking for....money is too tight to purchase new patterns right now.

I am on a quest to refill our costume bucket...and I am afraid time is running out.... I hope I get to them!

Hi Joann!
Have I got some ideas for you! Over the past years my 5 have gone as:
Juan Diego: White sweats with a pillowcase"tilma", cut up the sides and a hole cut out of the top for their head. On this we fabric-glued a paper copy of Our Lady of Guadalupe and some old fabric roses. Wear a straw hat and pencil on a mustache... Great costume!
Moses: When my twins were about the size of your little one, the one in your photo, one went as baby Moses! I put her in a white footed pj and carried her in a basket lined with a baby blanket, of course, to which I glued some cat-tail reeds.
St. Agnes: a plain long dress up gown and laurel wreath crown. She carried a toy lamb, So simple!
St. John the Baptist: Again, dark sweats with, believe it or not, an old furry zip-out raincoat liner tied around him as a shawl. Fake wig and beard, the scruffier the better, and an old branch for a walking staff...oh yes, and we made a paper scroll with the words "Repent! For the Kingdom of God is at hand!" on it for him to carry as well.
St. Veronika: my namesake! A simple costume dress and fabric swatch for a veil. She carried a piece of fabric (actually, for us an old diaper!) onto which I fabric-glued a paper photocopy of the Holy Face.
These are a few that come to mind now, but I'm sure I'll come up with a few more as I think about it! My children have been dressing up as saints since the oldest was little and she's 14 now! What a great way to celebrate All Hallows Eve!
I'll post a few more ideas as I get them! Good Luck, Joann!

I buy men's t-shirts for a basic "tunic". They come in all colors and are "no sew"!

Then we just drape and safety pin anything else needed.

Brown t-shirt + rope = St. Francis
Gray t-shirt, +sharpie marker to draw in "scales" = basic armor for St. Michael, St. Martin, St. George...
Blue t-shirt + curtain panel or sheet folded in half = Our Lady!
