Does anyone know of good children's patterns for making nuns' costumes and those of other saints?
I want to find a pattern for making a carmelite habit, most specifically, but am also wanting patterns for many saints. Does anyone know where I might get a pattern, or have the know-how to explain it?

I don't know if this helps, but we bought a book called "Halloween Alternatives" by Anne Joan Flanagan and it has costume ideas on how to make costumes for several eras of saints and biblical times.

The patterns are very general. For a basic tunic you cut out material in a cross shape and make a hole for the head in the middle. When folded in half you have the shape of a T and then you sew the sides and the arm part. Does this make any sense? It also describes the differences between the different orders and colours and different eras.

I also have a Simplicity pattern that I used last year. You can look it up on their website under costumes and religious. I believe they have two different ones. The book is cheaper by far than the pattern and has more ideas. The book also has games, activities and even invitations for alternative Halloween parties.
