I was looking for a pattern to make my husband a simple pullover (sorry Mary, I had meant you the gauge off of that yarn I bought that you were going to help me with Now the Kid's and women from my yarn night have dove into it too much at this point to make a sweater!)

My yarn is Alfoss Lopi Light. I just want a simple sweater with a round neck or roll neck.

Any ideas for patterns??

(I have a couple of the Lopi books but most of the sweaters in the book have an odd decrease that I don't like the look of).

Thank you Rachel. I have one I like on that site, but I also purchased two knitting books of patterns at the local thrift shop this morning for about 2 cents each. I think one of them has a basic raglan I might be able to make work...

Try this pattern. We make up lots of projects from this site. This one looks like a beautiful jumper/sweater. You could go a size bigger, or knit to pattern in Lopi on larger eedles for an oversized version that he can wear over top of a turtle and flannel (like Brian likes to do). IOW, Brian wears a thick lopi instead of a coat sometimes.

Here is a nifty gauge converter to help you convert from the yarn in the "Leo" pattern to your Lopi.

Oh, it's lovely stuff to handle. Mmmmm.

Lopi is wonderful but when I made dh a sweater in it for Austria he was just too hot -- I ended up felting it, cutting the center open, and wearing it as a jacket! But you're in Canada Kristie, so it should be fine.

The pattern Nissa linked to would be lovely in the Lopi -- because of the gauge difference, you should get a nice fitting over-size sweater. The problem I have with this design in a lighter-weight is that the rib is a bit form-fitting which my dh can't stand, but in the Lopi, should be fine.

I really like the look of that sweater too (love the site too). My Lopi it the Lopi Light so the weight is very different from the regular Lopi.

My dh is skinny with a capital S, so I wouldn't want it too baggy. And yes, not only are we in Canada, we are in Manitoba, so the winters are cold.

I'll let you know when I decide Mary!

Oh, and thanks for the converter. That is going to save me heaps of time... off now to knit some baby slippers for my friend's baby's baptism!
