Anyone proficient at knitting 2 socks at a time on one circular needle? I am stuck (quite literally) and need some help to figure this out. My lys is 20 minutes away and the opposite direction that I am going in today. I need to figure out how to get sock "A" to the front of the needles without stitching anymore of sock "B". I have a picture of the conundrum on my blog. I would appreciate any help! This is terrible, I feel like such a dunderhead!

OOO, I love knitting 2 socks on 2 circs, but I think I can help on this one.
Assuming sock A is the "beginning" sock and you're trying to get back to that one, I think you just need to slip the sock B stitches off the needle (thread the sts on 2 dpns (smaller ones work best for this)) and then turn your sock ... somehow you've got the B sock flipped.
That would seem to be the only solution ... did you just do the heel flap? Or did you get interrupted while working one?
Post if I'm not making sense ... or you have other problems....

I just turned the heel on sock B which is what the instructions told me to do. I am a little afraid to do anything at this point, for fear of messing up more! Oy! I'll try your suggestion and see what happens. I am really not very good at wrapping my brain around stuff like this. Wish me luck!

Did you turn the heel on A also .... or do you need to work that row on B and then do A's heel and than back to the start?

Oh, and put a "lifeline" in before you go further. Thread a needle with thinner thread than the sock yarn and slip needle thru all the sts (I'd do one thread for sock b and one for sock a) than try and figure out what to do ....
A life line allows you to rip back to that place without losing the other work .... trust me, it's definitely a life line!

The book has you do the entire heel turn for sock b and then move onto sock a. The heel turn is done with short rows. Obviously, this is my first pair of socks. I think I will rip out the heel turn for sock b and start over. I began and ended just as she instructed, so I am not sure what has happened.

Okay, I just emailed the author and asked for clarification before I go any further. The more I think about this, the more confused I get!  It took me over an hour to go from casting on to knitting the first row, when I started! I really am a dunderhead about this stuff. I really need someone sitting next to me and physically showing me what to do. It is really hard for me to transfer what I read to actual action. You have been a great help and I am sure that normal brained person would have gotten this straight away. I'll let you know what I end up finding out.

oh, no .... I know tons of knitters who never get this and give up.... at least you're trying to get it. It really is easier than doing one scok at a time, unless you know someone who only needs one sock, or you can use the socks as Christmas stockings! I never could do a second sock after sweating thru the first one ... now I do both at the same time and get them done quicker and I like them better cuz I'm not having to worry about row counts and other changes I may have made to the pattern as I'm making them identically!
Emailing the designer is a great idea as sometimes errors crop into patterns and the designer had it right in the original (that's happened to ME quite a few times!).
Blessings and don't give up -- also, please post when you do get 'em done

Okay, so the author replied (how lovely of her to be prompt!) and apparently the letters "A" and "B" got transposed during editing and you are, in fact, supposed to start with sock "A". This makes much more sense and I will happily rip out the heel turn and start over! I will also insert a life line while I am at it. I feel much better knowing that I am not really a dunderhead, but that the editor apparently is . It's nice to actually feel like I have a properly working brain, sometimes! Thanks again for your help!

Wow, a lifeline- I needed to read that. My socks are turning out quite wrong I think, and the wool is so tiny that ripping them out has been such a chore. I will definitely try that...
