I have been living with painted subfloor as my kitchen floor for a year now. We now have the funds for a new floor. I am overwhelmed with all the choices.
Any suggestions?
Do you love your floor? Or not?
Any imput would be great!

I love our tile! Hard on glass, but great for cleanup and all the traffic.

When we put tile in our house in Raleigh -- which looked lovely -- the contractor asked us about grout color. We had them make the grout the same color as the red clay soil and it made it VERY EASY on cleanup!

We have vinyl. It's easy to clean but aesthetically it's kind of meh. I think it's the original floor put into this house, and it has held up pretty well to the prior owners (an older couple) and now us for two years.
I had a wood laminate floor in our first house. My only complaints were the weird sound it made when I'd drop something on it and it tended to be streaky when I mopped. That was some years (10? 12?) ago, though. Laminates may be different now.
I had hard wood in the next two houses. I much prefer hardwood to any other floor, but it's expensive.
Tile makes my knees hurt now (too hard), so it's not an option for us. I found it difficult to keep the grout clean when we had tile, also years ago in another house.

Well the tile we had before combusted, so I don't think that will be the choice. My kids dropped cast iron pots on it too many times 
I don't want to have to put in another new floor so I need something that will hold up to my household. One of the reasons we still have just subfloor is that I wanted to wait until I had the money for a quality floor.

Ditto - our kitchen floor is maple. They didn't used to separate the cuts so there are beautiful pieces of birdsye and curly maple interspersed with the "regular" pieces.
We chose vinyl for our bathrooms, because tile can be so cold...they make some pretty good vinyl these days.

We have tile. It's only been 3 weeks, but my legs are killing me! Wood was the very best and I'd have it again if I were to choose.

I have vinyl that looks like stone, but we're hoping to put hardwoods througout the first floor next year.

I choose wood floors for our kitchen when we built our house and have never regretted it. It's very warm-looking and easy to clean.

Tile. I like the easy cleanup but I wish I'd chosen a darker grout. We have high-end tile that is textured and has a mottled, varied finish (looks like real stone). It hides spots well. My friend has plain off-white tile and hers shows every little speck of dirt and grime. So I would only do tile if you can afford the mottled-looking (it's been a looooong weekend and I am blanking on the real term for this) kind.

Well we decided on a handscraped maple. It has a "distressed" finish, and a baked on stain. They warranty the surface for 25 years.

Oh, that sounds so beautiful! We have a 1960-era house which has "broken" tile throughout much of the common living area, including the kitchen. I adore it -- we just had it cleaned, and it's absolutely beautiful and also indestructible. It was really hard on my legs at first, though I think I've gotten used to it, and I also wear shoes more in the house than I used to, to cushion my feet and legs on the hard floor.
Wood is so gorgeous, though. And I love an artisan look. I bet your floors will be spectacular.
