Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I love Moosewood cookbooks as well. You have to be careful, though. The dessert one has a percentage of it's proceeds going to a Planned Parenthood clinic. You can look on the back of the book on the Amazon site and it says they give 1 percent to Planned Parenthood of Tompkins County So, perhaps this one is best bought used or borrowed from the library.

That is sad. Thanks for the tip--I am not careful enough about stuff like that. I don't own the dessert book. I just checked and my Moosewood Cooks at Home donates profits to AIDS Work of Tompkins County which provides HIV advocacy, information, and support. I've given a lot of Moosewood cookbooks as gifts so I'll have to check out the others.

I quick looked at the back covers of most of the Moosewood books on Amazon. Not all of them had that feature but it looks like almost all their cookbooks support a cause. I found a few of them objectionable. Lesson to me! I'm sure a lot of authors and publishers do this.
