Cleaning out our attic this weekend, we came across a box of my grandmother's sewing patterns. Some are used and some are not. Most of them date from the 1950's-1960's. Lots of wedding patterns since she made the wedding dresses that all five of her daughters wore and bridesmaid dresses too. What would you do with them?

Dear Matilda,

I have kept all of my mum's - including my 1st Communion dress (1964 - yes, I am turning 50 next month!) The babies' patterns have been really useful - I have made smocked dresses and christening gowns and the like for so many babies.
If you don't wish to keep them, however, they appear to "move" really well at weekend markets (you might call them boot sales?) Vintage is a big deal in Australia and everything old is new again!

Cherish them!!! I grab up old patterns whenever I get the chance, they are so much fun to look over, and there are places online that sell old patterns besides ebay. You should check out dress a day. If you notice the side bars are places that sell, and I assume, buy old patterns.
