Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi ladies! My girls have been taking ballet for about a year now and are loving it! So, the older one is having a ballerina birthday party! And, the week of her birthday we are reading ballerina books and doing a mini-ballet unit for fun!

But, I'm having trouble coming up with crafts we can do! My girls are ALL about crafts! We usually do several per week to go with the unit we are learning about.

Any suggestions, links or ideas?

Thanks! :)
Candace

Make your own tutus!

SOOO EASY!

Just cut up tool into strips and tie onto a piece of elastic. My sister taught me how to do this.

Cut piece of elastic and measure around child's waist. Sew together so it is in a circle. (Only sewing required)

Cut the tool into long strips and then simply tie around elastic.

Ballet bags. You could buy those plain canvas tote bags (in pink, of course) and let them decorate them in a ballet theme with fabric pens or paint. Perhaps get a stencil or two to get them started.

There are some really cute ideas in this Usborne book -How to draw Princesses and Ballerinas though probably for a little older child. It's a mix of drawing and some paper doll-like activities. Really sweet.

Dover has lots of ballet items for children.

http://store.doverpublications.com/

Just enter the search term "ballet" for a long list of things. Using the broad term will bring up some things you won't be interested in (scores and the like), but there are lots of treasures at reasonable prices there.

I found a sweet craft book at Barnes and Nobel for ballerinas. This might be something to purchase and work on after the party. The book is called The Dancers Book of Crafts by Christina Haskin.

Blessings,

Elizabeth

If you are talking about the Dover link, you may have to copy and paste it into your browser, since it appears that the hyperlink didn't work when I posted it.
