Well I learned this year that if I want to make gifts and decorations for Christmas, December is not the time to start.
I am hoping this year that I can stamp 10 Christmas cards a month, plus make some other cards to give as gifts.
I want to make stockings for us, some ornaments and a tree skirt.
We'll see if I can be organizied enough to do most of these projects, I have most of the stuff to make them though

I just decided last week that i am going to address, stamp and sign all of my christmas cards in the spring.....so, I only have to write the newsletter (and you KNOW what a process that might be ) and stuff next December....and maybe get them out before dec 22nd!
hey, it wll be less money to spend in Dec if I stamp them earlier in the year!

Ladies, don't fuss so.... I ALWAYS write my Christmas letter during the Octave and get them out before Epiphany ... this is all an attempt to evangelize those who think Christmas ends on the 25th (and I'm always running behind times .... )

Oh, Mary Chris, that is exactly what I would like to do as well. Last year after Christmas that was my plan - make gifts and crafts throughout the year. Did it happen that way? - no. I really need something to keep me accountable to this plan!

Me fuss??? Not even...I do not fuss.....this is definitely NOT about fussing for me...it is about one less thing for me to do. I send out over 100 cards each year.......AND...my newsletter is 6 pages long. Those are my reasons for getting some of the steps out of the way sooner.
I am too busy to do it during the octave.....though I have been known to send them out by the Feast of the Presentation
As for stamps....I already planned it out....I can add the 1 or 2 cent stamps as needed....and, if they moved, I would not find out about it most of the time anyway, till their card came to me.....I am not bothered by scratching out someone's address....they are just going to throw the envelope, and prob the card away anyway

I'm not worried about stamping with stamps from the Post Office, it is these stamps that I want to work on. I started my cards mid December and then burnt out . If I were to make 10 cards a month I would have a nice supply come next Christmas. It doesn't bother me if people recieve our cards after Christmas, we sent ours out on Christmas Eve so they did get them after Christmas. What bothers me is all the people I didn't send cards to because I was tired of making them.
Mary, are you in for a Christmas Craft of the Month club? I need some accountability myself.

Mary Chris, this is exactly where I'm at too! I am writing out my new years goals and realizing I must start things early if I want that quiet, handmade Christmas I envision every year.
I don't think it's unreasonable to have a Christmas plan that begins in January and ends with a peaceful, reflective December!

What a cool idea. I would love to make a tree skirt. This year we used (ack) two Christmas tablecloths wrapped around the base of our tree.
I need a BIG skirt (to cushion falling ornaments, as we have Pergo floors). Maybe that could be a two-month project?

Chari, I WAS just yanking your chain a bit, y'know ! And will I get one of those 6-page newsletter ...
Mary Chris -- I'd love to do a Christmas-Craft-a-month club ... we could set up a separate blog or something if we don't want to "clutter" 4real.... we could either do a different craft-type each month, or a different gift-type (cards, teacher gifts, memory-type gifts), or just a monthly "tickler" what are you crafting kind of thing ...
I'd be up for the accountability too! You'd think I'd knit everything but somehow I too run out of time ....

I'm behind in two stockings... soon to be three. I even started in November... but then we had chicken pox and then the flu...
Embarrassingly enough I *thought* I had two generic stockings in storage, but no...
So Michael got the one generic stocking and Lukie got a Christmas gift bag "to hang by the chimney with care."
With boy #5 on his way (please soon!!), I need to get hopping NOW on these felt applique stockings!!!

And I couldn't even get myself to start making mine. The thought was paralyzing me - I sent out store-bought ones for the first time in 12 years
