I know I should search the archives for this, but I need a little rant as well.
OK - so I take my 10yearold dd to the fabric store. I'm thinking finding a nice pattern for her Christmas dress and maybe making her a wool coat this year. Oh, and she thinks she'd like to make a nightgown. We haven't looked at patterns for a while since I had SOOOO many at home already, but she has grown and I wanted her to get a chance to look and get some ideas. We were shocked!!! There is nothing I mean nothing, (well maybe 2 things), beautiful much less modest in those books for her age and size. I was so disheartened.
We agreed to size up some things we have here and size down one adult dress that she saw that she liked. Why are the Ladies dresses more modest (in some cases) than the girls. Disgusting!!!
So, do you all know of any place to get modest and lovely, gracious patterns appropriate for a girl who is still a girl and who wants to dress like a girl and not a floosy (who knows how to spell that!).
Meantime I'll check the archives, too.
Thanks!
Margot

Or here is another...
The King's Daughters.
I have no idea what their patterns are like, but their custom made dresses look very pretty.

Sorry Margot, no help but I agree wholeheartedly with your rant -- did you see what they were selling as Halloween costumes -- the adult ones were bad enough, but then they also had the french maid costumes, etc for little girls!

PreparingDaughters.com
I found this one by googling about a pattern I was making. I haven't looked much beyond what I originally went there for. They also recommend the commonsense patterns site.
Mary G, I googled "Catholic costumes" today looking for a Christmas present and ended up looking at a "sexy nun" costume. Luckily, I figured out the correct site.
Margot, good luck! I think it's "floozy" because the "z" makes it look cheap.

So disappointing that even the patterns are following suit in trying to make our little girls look like floozies (plural looks funny, doesn't it?). It's bad enough going to the store and seeing all those flashy, s_xy clothes, but now it's in the patterns too.

I guess that's what I thought, too! And I foolishly thought that I would find more conservative things in patterns. Big mistake!
Thanks for the links! My daughter and I checked them out and we are very happy with what we found. Thank goodness!!
