Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm hosting our groups First Friday in December and need to come up with some kind of craft. It's the day after St. Nicholas and the day before the Immaculate Conception. Any ideas? It's mostly young children. I know there are lots of ideas on the St. Nicholas Center site. Do you think it would be okay to do that celebration even though it's the day after the feast day?

I'm so craft challenged.

Yes, I think it would be perfectly fine to do St. Nicholas so close after the fact. St. Nic is for all of December, IMO. And there is so much to choose from at the St. Nicholas site. If it's mostly young children I'd go with the color/cut/fold type crafts and not the ones with lots of pieces to cut out and glue.

St. Nick crafts are the easiest by far to do. For the Immaculate Conception you could take small oval plagues (either the cheapo wooden ones from the craft stores or a sturdy cardboard) and spray paint them silver. Then find some sort of coloring book type image of the Miraculous Medal. The kiddos can color in and then cut it out and glue it on. Depending on your time, the dc could do the painting.

Another idea to celebrate the Immaculate Conception is to make sacrifice beads. It's sort of more a St. Therese thing to do but you use the Miraculous Medal.

I would totally do St. Nicholas.

I had some things I did Advent Retreat Help and Our Lady of Guadalupe. I had so much fun making the Sculpey ornaments, which you could do with the Immaculate Conception.
