We've been invited to visit with 7 Colombian seminarians who are living with our dear friend from high school, Father Jim. I'd like to bring a dish that would be comfort food for them.

Any suggestions?

i lived for a summer in medelllin, colombia. the cuisine varies for the different regions. costal, mounains, country side and bogota. i havent ever tried cooking colombian food in the states, but i found recipes at trecipesthis site
the dishes i remember most are empanadas, fried bananas/plantains, ajiaco (a soup from bogata region) and arepas. i remember empanadas, fried bananas and ajiaco being my favorites. in medellin, we ate lots of soups (some times chicken, sometimes bean) and had rice seperately on the side, then you would take your spoon, scoop some rice and then dip it into the soup broth. very smart, as the rice then didnt get all soggy and broken up in the soup. mmmmm i am making my self hungry.
