Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What type of sewing machine would be a good first purchase for my dds 18, 13, and 10? I am personally allergic to sewing machines They would be on their own.
I am looking for something modest and not too expensive for Christmas. denim would be worked with alot...My dds 18 and 13 want to recycle things and make her own creations.
~Thanks~

I have a Brother XL5130. It was a gift from my sister when I got married, so I assume it didn't cost too much. I've worked it pretty hard and it's holding up great. Very simple to use.

Tammmy,

Kenmore's are what I usually get. They are inexpensive and mine goes through denim quite well (with a denim needle - VERY important!) If you can find an old Kenmore at a yard sale snap it up - they are fabulous! Also the very old Singers are quite good. My dd has a Singer 201 that I got her via Freecycle and it's an awesome machine! It only does a straight stitch, backwards and forwards but that thing is a workhorse and will sew through anything. They are supposedly the best machines Singer ever made and I can believe it. Featherweights are great too but more and more people recognize the value of those old machines and they're harder to find.
