Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I cannot figure out which book may be better for us. Does anyone have either of the above (or both) and want to do a quick review? Sewing is not my forte - I am looking for projects to do with my daughter and it would be great if my sons could do them too. Maybe for the boys I would need to get something like Toymaking with kids or Woodworking for kids?

I just do not want to get another craft book that sits on my shelf because it is too hard and time consuming.

Also for the felt books - what supplies do we need to start? Where did you get your supplies from?

Thanks for any ideas.

Marilyn -- I can answer this one !

Feltcraft is subtitled "making dolls, gifts and toys" and therein lies the big difference. Feltcraft has much more variety in making all kinds of things from felt -- held together by gluing, embroidery (hand-sewing) or machine. Lots of variety, clear instructions and suggestions for substitutes. The projects are also small so you can try one and see if you want to do more before investing in alot of supplies.

Felt Wee Folk, on the other hand, is subtitled "Enchanting Projects" and they are beautiful. But it's lots of fairy dolls (boys and girls) and making pictures or settings with them. This one is very Waldorf-y if you know about the Waldorf encouragement of fairies and wee folk in nature ... I can see using this book extensively for nature corners and seasonal tableaus as recommended in the Waldorf curriculum.

Bottom-line, I like them both, but Feltcraft seems like a better "just starting out in felt" kind of book as it's got so much more variety and shows how to make so many different things with felt.

Hope that helps.

What Mary said.
I also think that Feltcraft has more projects that are simple. Wee Felt Folk is a little less kid-friendly, imo.

I have the Wee Folk book, I like the projects in it, it also includes little felt wallets and such. More things to be made FOR children, rather than with them.

What they said! I'd like the Feltcraft one, though, too!
