Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I took in my 22yo sewing machine for repairs today (again) and decided to look at new machines...and I bought a Bernina! I feel a little guilty spending the $, but it should last a very long time, right??? I did not get one of the fancy schmancy models that do embroidery, hook up to your computer (!!!) if you want, etc. Mine has a few decorative stitches. Mainly, though, it sews like butter! I don't know how else to describe it. Glides along so smoothly.

I hope I don't sound like I'm bragging! I'm just happy. I finished a tank swimsuit I'd cut out for dd a long time ago. She's a tall, thin 11 yo...too tall for little girl sizes and too skinny for juniors...which are mostly bikinis anyway. Yikes. She was wearing a suit I made for her older sister, but is very happy with her new one. (We belong to a rec center so we can swim year round.)
Next I plan to make curtains for my dd, then valances for dh's office.

They're repairing my old machine for free; I'm going to keep it for the kids to use. They wouldn't take it as a trade-in anyway.

Happily stitching away,

Patty

YAY!! I love my Bernina, I got a second to the top model in the spring of '93(a 1230) it has never been in for repairs, and the best part? When I look on ebay to see what my machine might go for if I ever sold it( ), it is selling for what I paid back then...so it really keeps it's value!!!

Have fun with your new machine!

You are going to LOVE your Bernina! It is such a workhorse. I have an 1130 that I bought in 1981. I have never had a lick of trouble with it.
Congratulations!!
