I just found out that I am salicylic sensitive.
Holy cow! It is tough to find out what to eat! I have been on a few websites, but is there anyone out there that has the same issues, and can give me a few pointers?
On the bright side, at least I know what has been bugging me the last 3 years!!
Thanks, Bridget

Bridget,
I was just thinking of you and wondering if you got your results back. So...does this mean no surgery!
I will keep offering prayers as you work on your diet changes. This can be so difficult, especially if you are the only one in the family.

I must have known someone with that problem because offhand I know you need to avoid yellow dye and apples I think.. but I don't recall exactly who or much else.
I wish you luck with ferreting out all the information you need. And remember that it'll just take time to adapt to the changes but once you do it shouldn't be too awful.

Bridget, how did you figure this out? My dd has terrible fibromyalgia and I have wondered if it is related to salicylates, as I had once read there is a possible connection. Is there a test or something for this problem?
This site appears to have a pretty thorough list of what you can/cannot eat. The fruits are so limited!

Well...I just took a look at the list and I was happy to see that you can drink coffee and vodka!

I have a good friend who is allergic to salicylates and her daughter is as well. They've found that concentration is key - there are some things they can have in small doses, but if they have too much, or combine some foods with other foods that contain some salycilates, they have a problem. Orange and pineapple juice are big no-no's for both of them, as are blueberries and a few other things. Tomato sauce is something they can have a little of, but too much or too often and it becomes a problem. I'm not sure what else, but I know there are other things they avoid or limit.
Good luck figuring it all out!
