Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've had a cold for the past almost week. This morning my almost 8 month old (!!where does the time go?) woke up crying and seems a bit congested. She never wakes up like that so now I think she's coming down with Momma's cold.

What do you do to help the really littles when they get the stuffy nose and congestion? We've already done lots of cuddles and snuggles and she's only been up an hour! (which is soooo early!)

Drops of saline or breastmilk in the nose is always good. I especially like to put the saline in the nose just before nursing, it seems to help a lot. I also like a warm mist humidifier with some eucalyptus in the medicine cup.

You can elevate her crib mattess by putting a book under the "head" end.

We use the saline or breastmilk (it's got antibacterial properties and may well help with more than just thinning the gunk) in the nose as well.. it helps loosen things up to make breathing easier.. and yes.. I also especially do this right before nursing so that she's clear as possible to eat well.

I also give elderberry as a tincture to everyone even ones that little.. for the littlest it's only a drop or two with a touch of water to dilute it a bit.. I give a dropperful right before they nurse.
