Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

The latest The Herb Quarterly has make your own herb lip balms, written by Janice Cox.

Anyone make their own? Where did you get your supplies? What kind of container do you use to put the finished product?

My sister has just started with "raising" bees, so I'm trying to line up with my requests for beeswax.

I live in the UK so not much help - but I got my beeswax from Neal's Yard, and also from a tool supply store who sell big blocks cheaply. In our book "Make your own drugs" the author says you can use beeswax candles too, as long as they are pure beeswax. And I bought some small glass pots with screw lids, as well as re-using some I had from cosmetics.

Hi Jenn

We make our own lip balm - it helps us control the ingredients as my dd is allergic to a lot of nut and plant oils. We get our main supplies from Mountain Rose Herbs- we like their tinsand we make our own circular stickers with pretty graphics for the various types

The only problem with Mountain Rose is their very steep shipping costs.

We get essential oils and flavorings from either Vitacost or another company (which has totally eluded my mind - but I have it linked on my former blog so will check it out later)

I use a mini crockpot - simmer beeswax, olive oil, herbs and whatever other ingredients you wish to add. Mountain Rose sells the cheese cloth, funnels etc
