Just a quick question -- how much cod liver oil do you take during pregnancy?

I always eye-ball it, and it's probably close to a Tablespoon (ish) per day.

I think you do need to be careful of mercury content? At least I think I'd heard that cod liver oil was one you had to be careful of.

I think that's where branding comes into consideration. Personally, I would only consider using Nordic Naturals, Carlson's, or Green Pasture (Dr. Ron's). I have used Spectrum, and still do (on occasion, when I have to better pinch my pennies ). These brands have quality standards that exceed AOAC protocols.

Are you all using regular cod liver oil or fermented?
I'm using Green Pastures Blue Ice Raw, fermented cod liver oil (which I purchased from Dr. Ron's.) From what I understood 1/2 tsp was a regular dose, but I wasn't sure what it would be for a pregnant woman? I was a little worried about all the Vitamin A, since (apparently) the percentages on the label are minimums and who knows what is in every dose.
I have been feeling much better since I started. My wheezing is better and I've been in a better mood. But I'm still not sure how much of this stuff I really ought to be taking...

Both. I really don't know which one is actually better for you, and what the health differences may be. It seems to me that there is ongoing changes in opinion with this.

This is such a huge debate right now. Lots of new literature coming out saying that you should not be taking high amounts of Vitamin A with Vitamin D because the Vitamin A interferes, and is often in amounts considered to be toxic. I can't answer this. I'm still reading the research as it becomes available. I've got Dr. Ron's in my fridge right now as well. I read a lot of information on the Weston A. Price website, and Dr. Ron's is highly recommended.
I think there are tremendous benefits to taking CLO, it might be worth a bit of effort to find a particular brand that doesn't have such a high Vitamin A to D ratio.
I take CLO, on average, 4 times a week. On the other days, I take Flaxseed oil. I try not to over-do any one supplement, and keep things moderate, but consistent. I think you should be fine taking the amount that you are.
