DD is 3.5 and constantly complaining about itching. She's allergic to most lotions on the market due to allergies to Oats, Coconut, Tree Nuts, Soy and Avocado. She can't tolerate the oils from them either.
Anyone have ideas for something I could put on her to help with the itching? We have no idea what is causing it - she just itches no rash. Her Dr. prescribed Benadryl, but all it does is knock her out.
I hate to see her itch so much.

and olive oil will somewhat solidify in the fridge if it's too runny to use at room temp

jojoba is a heavier oil but is also good for the skin.

My dd has eczema and her docs all suggest Eucerin.
Also, if she stays hydrated - by drinking lots of water - any itching will be somewhat diminished.

You could get pure aloe at the health food store.

My suggestion would be to use Calendula cream. Several brands of Calendula are California Baby (which you can purchase online, or at Super Supplements), Weleda Calendula (which you can purchase at Vitacost.com). I personally like these two brands. California Baby also carries a good line of Aloe Vera cream.
Jojoba is also really, really good (I used to get mine from Elysian Dream, but they stopped carrying it last year) ~ I haven't found a source quite as good, although Uncle Harry's brand is better than not having any at all.

If your dd is allergic to coconut I would avoid CA Baby stuff. They use stuff derived from coconut and my coconut allergic dd gets hives from CA Baby stuff.
I use the calendula balm and calendula lotion on my dd. I really like her shop. She is willing to make up a lotion containing whatever ingredients you want. Just message her and tell her what you are looking for and what your limitations are. I think her prices are very reasonable.
Itching without a rash sounds like it could be the start of eczema, which is often called "the itch that rashes". Have you tried to figure out what is triggering her reaction?

Our allergist recommended a cream called Vanicream. It is over the counter. I found it on drugstore.com. The doctor said we might have to have the pharmacy order it--and we did for the prescription one we have. The Vanicream and diet changes worked well. Vanicream also can be made prescription by mixing in some hydrocortisone(we use both, the prescription when she is really itchy).
We are supposed to put it on twice a day but now that she is controlled we really only use it on flare ups and after baths.
Vanicream also makes sunscreen and soap. I am trying the sunscreen this year and hope it works too. Summers and sunscreens were so hard for her.

Oh my! Thank you for this. I should have read my label before suggesting this brand!

My Target store now carries over the counter Vanicream. I bought the bar of soap for showers and I like it a lot. They also have shampoos, etc., too.
I have used Sarna lotion which is also available at Target. My dd has eczema and is allergic to wheat, soy, egg white, dairy, peanuts...she itches terribly when she has wheat and it takes several days to get it out of her system. She is 8 and she says Sarna is the only thing that works!

I'll have to check Target for the Vanicream - it sounds similar to the diaper cream we used that didn't irritate here for ingredients, so hopefully it works.
Calendula is great but I'm allergic to it - go figure! I hadn't thought of Aloe Vera - I wonder if the aloe gel they sell around here for sunburns in summer would work on her?
We're pretty sure it's excema, but have no idea what is causing it as it seems to be a constant itch no matter what she eats. She has come so far with her allergies since she was born - for over a year she rarely left the house due to airborne allergies to foods - we couldn't go anywhere there even might be food, and she was on prescription formula until she was 2 because she was so limited for foods to eat.

Is the itching a recent development? If yes, has she been spending some time outside? My dd has a ton of food allergies, but also seems to have some springtime seasonal allergies as well. After spending all day outside playing yesterday she had already developed a little eczema on her wrists by evening. I find that this time of year I need to plop her in the bath any day that she plays outside. This usually helps it a lot.
I am sorry she has so many allergies. It is tough, I know. My dd has about a dz known allergies and there are some we haven't been able to identify yet. My dd can't go with me when I go to the local dairy store to buy milk. Any time I would take her she would break out in hives and her eyes would get all itchy I am constantly having to bug her little friends to wash up after touching food. I pray that you are able to find out what your dd's trigger is and are able to find her some relief
Oh, and it might still be worth it to contact the woman I suggested earlier. She might have some ideas for you. She will even send you a sample (for a small fee) so that you don't sink your money into a larger quantity that will just crowd your medicine cabinet it if doesn't work. If you are like me, you have every cream on the market in your cabinet. Dh is slowly working his way through our lotion stash. We have been collecting them for a good 2 years now

My dd6 has eczema and uses Vanicream...about the only one she can tolerate...can't even use Eucerin w/her--weird.
Found it "behind the counter" but "over the counter" at Walgreens/CVS...I think they keep it behind the counter so they can mix it for prescription use.
Didn't know they had soap and shampoo, too!

Too funny. I have a gallon zip lock bag in the linen closet with about 15 vials/tubes/bottles. Most we wouldn't want to use routinely--big prescription ones like Protopic and Elidel--yuck!
Now if only I could get dh to use up all the Eucerin, Lubriderm, etc. He is not a "cream" guy. It is going to take me years......
And thanks for the reminder about spring baths. Dd is really allergic to trees, and this is the first spring we know--I'll need to up the bath count each week.. Oh, and keep the house closed up.
