Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone used this with success? I am hoping that nobody has horrible scare stories - as I may not have a choice about using it. My eye doctor has tried numerous thing and this is the last thing in her arsenal

Thanks so much.

I used this for very dry eyes. It did work well if used consistently; I also used Genteal eye drops every two-three hours. My doctor's partner, however, just uses the Genteal drops, as she thinks the cost of the Restasis is very high and the drops work as well. I thought the Restasis worked a little better than the drops alone, though. Also, I have read that dry eyes are a symptom of EFA deficiency, so I started taking EFA supplements. That helped, too. If I'm consistent with the cod liver supplement and regular eye drops, I haven't got too much of a problem. HTH! Eye trouble can really be distressing. I'll pray for you, too!

Marilyn,

I use Restasis and have been using it for a couple of years now. I use one drop in each eye in the morning and at night. I wear contacts and the reason I noticed I had dry eyes is because I could hardly wear my contacts. Now I wear my contacts with no problem.

Caroline, what is EFA?

Thank you Natalia and Caroline. I saw the eye doctor today and have a Restasis trial.

Natalia - EFAs are Essential Fatty Acids eg Omega 3.

Caroline - I have just started taking cod liver oil. My eye problems started 2 years ago after my little guy was born. And now after this little one they have returned with a vengeance. Pregnancy was my only respite. I would not take CLO as I have one child who is very allergic and I was scared of the nursing baby developing an allergy. But all docs feel I should - and I cannot tolerate flax. I am using Genteal and also a heavier petroleum based ointment.

Thanks for the prayers - eye problems are distressing and I am trying to keep cheerful though nothing is working right now.

This probably won't help Marilyn but my dh suffered from dry, painful painful eyes for a very long time. He on top of that eventually developed some sinus & stuffy ear issues. So he started to do a saline rinse for his sinuses. Well after doing this for several months (not a quick fix) his dry eyes have gotten a lot better. It could be a coincidence...but it's all connected up there. Fwiw.

Another thing my doctor mentioned, was that in my case the dry eyes were related to rosacea (adult acne). She told me if I was not going to become pregnant that I could take an antiybiotic like cyclosporin. I didn't at that time, but since the option of pregnancy is pretty much out of the picture these days (being too old!), I have started a long course of Zithromax, which has helped the acne lots and the eyes a little. Just fyi, and I hope your eyes are doing better soon.
