Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

OK, odd topic header, I know. Here's the deal. I'm getting reacquainted with my cycle after literally YEARS of not having one or only have one cycle run through before I get pregnant again. My second (and only heavy) day I am lethargic and just lumpy (Mr. Hyde). I usually have only minor cramping. I just don't feel put together. In defense of the lumpiness I felt yesterday, I had a migraine-like headache complete with nausea and light sensitivity. I hope I won't have to start expecting the headache to be part of the cycle. But I remember some level of this lethargy from past cycles as well.

Now on the third day, when most of the time it looks as though I've completed the cycle (but then the 4th and 5th day I can expect light stuff), I have energy to spare.

What I guess I'm asking is this: Is there some natural supplement I can take or something I should be eating before or during the cycle that will sustain me through the low energy times?

TIA,

i am sitting here in absolute jealousy... my (.) runs a full 7 days, w/ 4 -5 of them heavy w/cramping - and on day 2 & 3 I pretty much don't move off the couch.

you are AMAZING, i think.

hope you get some good advice - i know there are many herbs that are good for our cycles, but i don't know them well enough to suggest them off the top of my head at the moment.....

Bump. A local friend recommended a B-vitamin supplement. Anyone else have anything I might take to increase energy during my cycle?

B vits are the ones known to increase energy.. but if you're low overall, just increasing on may not help much.   Are you taking a good multi-vit?

Also, red raspberry leaf, either in caps or as a tea may help balance hormones.

The lady at the health food store recommended:

A good stress B complex
Vitamin E
Panothenic Acid
Vitamin C

Lots of water
No caffeine

You could try adding more Omega-3 oils and flax seed to your diet. A friend of mine said she was did this for other health reasons and had the bonus of a much easier cycle.
