Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My pediatrican has told me that I need to start vitamins in a couple of weeks when the baby is one month old. I don't remember doing this for the other children and feel a little uneasy about it. Is anyone else doing this - and if so do you have a natural vitamin to recommend - those Polyvisol ones look horrid.

I do not.. but I make sure *I* am getting my vitamins so that everything that should be in breastmilk is there for the baby.

I was told the same thing, and all of my previous 6 kids would literally spit out their Polyvisol liquid vitamins and cry whenever I tried to give it to them. And I tried many different times and different ways.
So I asked my friend who had a mid-wife, to ask her about this, and she said it was just for babies living North of Toronto, Ontario (we are Canadian).
What we both decided to do (our babies were born two weeks apart) was put baby in sunlight (say by a window, as she was sleeping) once or twice a week!!!

I would also say to make sure that *you* are getting enough vitamin D, as that is the primary reason why doctors recommend vitamins to breast-fed infants... American mothers are often deficient in D and so our breastmilk is deficient in D.

I concur - with the twins, well I guess with all of them, i would take my prenatals and place the baby in the sun (or sunny window) as often as I could. I still let them play outside w/o sunscreen 15 min a day.

Yup. Prenatals for me and a sunbath for the baby while he/she is sleeping.
