Okay, I'm on them. Midwife isn't sure that this is the issue behind my bleeding, but since this is the only thing that they *can* do at this point (I'm only 10 1/2 wks), we're trying it (I was already using NPC 2xs a day...).
Anyway, I used the suppositories for the first time last night, and I've had more bleeding, not less. I used it again this am...
Anyone have any experiences with these things? I'm on 50mg 2xs/day for the next month....
Rachel

ok, you should NOT use suppositories if you are bleeding. It will greatly hinder what ends up being absorbed. I would switch to progesterone in oil (sesame?) via injection. my dh learned very easily to give me the daily shots with my last baby.
OR you could take compounded progesterone (bio-identical) via mouth (what I am currently doing this preg)
I had had some qualms about hormones in the digestive system, but the consults I've had with the Tepeyac center, and another NFP/Hilgers Doc said that it was a good method.
lastly, I would strongly encourage you to get tested for genetic bleeding disorders. (von Willebrand's, other "factors" , such as factor 5, your Doc would know)
this affects up to 1-3% of the female population, and might only present itself in a pregnancy (bleeding).
there are some fairly easy ways to treat during pregnancy/delivery.
I'm praying for you!

They didn't see any bleeding on there. But in the exam they did, they did see the bleeding from the cervix--which wasn't dilating, thank goodness.
I've never had any bleeding with any of the other pregnancies, which has made this, naturally, more scary for me/us. Even with the twins. And having been dx'd with PCOS, well, that makes a m/c more likely....
I'm just going to have to wait and see, I suppose. I'm taking it easy today, but if the bleeding doesn't lessen by tomorrow, then I will be calling them and seeing what they want me to do...

I had to take progesterone supplements, but I took the pills by mouth. They did have to up my dose and I needed it with each pregnancy. I did continue bleeding for a few days, but it tapered off and stopped after maybe 3 days total from starting it.

I had to take progesterone suppositories, Rachel. I bled a good bit off and on while using them because of the increased vascular nature of the area during the first trimester. That could be one reason for the increased bleeding, but doesn't explain the original reason for the bleeding.
My dh has von Willebrand's disease (a bleeding disorder in which platelets fail to "stick" together). It would be a good idea as Lisa suggested to seek some testing for bleeding disorders. File that one away if they can't figure out what is going on, especially if baby and all else seems ok.
