Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have had five kids over the last week and a half with this virus. They have been just miserable--after the fevers and headaches, and throwing up--mainly it was their mouths that were full of blisters, making it hard to eat.

But, Luke-3, today has about 20 nasty blisters all over his feet. He is in agony. The other kids didn't have them to this extent. He won't even walk.

Has anyone had any experience with this?   Is there anything that can help this poor baby?

They say using a salt water rinse in the mouth helps with pain. Would a bath help? Maybe soaking with some Epsom salt and eating a popsicle may help for a few minutes.

Poor Luke...we will be praying.

My son contracted this when we were in Finland a few years ago...apparently it is very common over there. Fortunately ds just snuggled alot and was pretty still till he felt better.

Sorry to hear about all that pain for your little one...

No advice, but when my son just turned 3 he got this. He literally didn't move from the couch for three days. Just so limp and listless. I will be praying for you...

Luke is feeling better today. It looks like maybe the worst is over.

Out of the four littles-this poor baby certainly had it the hardest.

Without a physician RX, ibuprofen is probably the strongest medication that would be of help for pain control. For optimal levels, around the clock is best. Those blisters can be brutal!

Finger and toe tips can be very, very sensitive as you have found out. The tell-tale sign that my girls have it is often the pinpoint red dots on their toes. (Unfortunately, there is more than one strain of the virus, so it can be had more than once.)

My HUSBAND got the worst case of all-he had it twice along with my eldest when she was a toddler. His toes and fingers peeled for weeks (painlessly after the initial blisters). His nails even peeled a few layers.

Glad to hear your littles are on the mend.

I have no advice, Joann, but I have been praying for your family. That virus is making its rounds in the Northern VA area. A friend of mine's daughter got it, and the doctor basically said just wait it out.
