Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Anyone have a recommmendation for a good pedometer?

Not like the McDonald pedometer that came out a few years back.    It counted each step as 3 or if I coughed it logged steps.

I'd like to have a way to keep track of the daily walks and hikes.

TIA!

I have this one -- it's an Omron Digital Pedometer and I'm very happy with it.

It tracks steps and distance and even aerobic steps (which I can't remember what the criteria is -- something like when you've been walking steadily for more than 10 minutes maybe?) I've tested it against a few different criteria (walking trails with mileage posted, the car) and found it to be very accurate. It has a clock, but also keeps track of how long you've been walking, which is nice.

It's a pretty good price right now, too! (under $20)

Ooh, I was looking for a pedometer just today. I liked my Weight Watchers one although it did add steps occasionally. I liked that it was cued to my weight and told me how many WW points I had earned in addition to distance walked/run and steps taken.

If you are looking for a way to measure a walk or a bike ride, you can also use mapmyrun.com. It gives you a little map, and then you trace your route to find out how far you went. I used my pedometer to gauge my overall activity level (setting a goal of so many steps per day), but I like mapmyrun for rambling neighborhood walks especially now that my pedometer is dead.

Rachel,
thank you for the link to measure out the neighborhoods. I learned my "big" walking route isn't quite as long as I had thought.
But I also found my "short" walk route isn't as short as I thought!
My goal for August is to work up to and walk 5 miles everyday. So far, I am fairly close to the 5 miles, just have to be consistent with the daily part.

Thanks!
Stacy

Stacy, I'm glad it helped! I had the same experience of a walk being not as long as I thought recently. Apparently, the walk from Union Station to the WWII memorial in Washington DC is really only about 3.5 miles even it is takes all day.
