Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi all,

I figured someone on here would know if I am "missing a vitamin" as my Mom used to always say. For the past two weeks, my feet and calves have been cramping a lot. Then, for the past day or two, my left upper calf area, has been having strange spasms all on it's own! It sort of freaked me out the first time it happened since it was contracting and twitching and jumping all around! It is doing it again right now. It lasts about a minute or two and them stops. Am I getting varicose veins? (don't see evidence of this.) Am I low on potassium? I started taking my multi-vitamin again just to be sure since I tend to forget it. I usually only have cramps in my calves when I am pregnant, and I don't think I am. (usually later in the pregnancy.) I am still nursing my 10 month old just for the record. It's not painful or anything, but it seems very odd and worried me a bit. Oh yes, it seems to only happen while I am sitting???

Are you getting enough calcium? That is the one I think of first.

calcium, magnesium, potassium would be the big ones.. they help the muscles relax and contract smoothly.

Calcium and Magnesium supplements with long soaks in the bath with a good amount of Epsom Salts!

Works wonders....

I think cramping like this can also be linked to dehydration, so be sure you're drinking enough too.

Whenever I cramp up like that, I just eat a whole bunch of bananas and then I'm fine. I assume that must mean it's potassium that I was lacking.

I drink a slimfast when I start getting twitches. Its got everything, few calories, and I used to have them on hand (plus, I don't like bananas).

Hopefully, you'll get something that works for you...

Thanks for all the great advice. I am not sure WHICH advice helped as I did a bit of everything. (more water, calcium supplements, more milk, bananas..) No wonder I am gaining weight! I haven't had them since though, so something must have helped. Thanks for helping me out.
