Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm in my early 40s and my youngest child is over five years old. I have NFP chart history going back a ways. For the last two or three years my cycles have been short (say 23-25 days) 90% of the time. If I got to 27 days, I'd start wondering...

I have had four cycles in excess of 28 days in my life. Three of those times I was pregnant. The other time seemed to be an anomaly for reasons that I could understand given the circumstances at the time.

This month I'm already on day 32. I had a very clear temperature rise on day 17. My temps dropped a smidge on day 23 and I spotted, but they went back up on day 24, and they are still up.

I've taken two home pregnancy tests, both negative (not even lightly positive). I am a bit tired, but not dog-tired like I remember from past pregnancies. And I have lots of reasons to be tired. I'm hungry. I'm thirsty. I frequent the toilet a lot.

I don't know what to think, given the two negative tests.    Is this what happens as we get older? If it is, how do I not drive myself nuts every month waiting?

I know God will provide, and what will be will be in his perfect plan. If I am pregnant I will be both overjoyed and a bit freaked out. My husband is excited at the possibility. My kids would be beside themselves. Our extended families? Well, we'd wait a while to tell them.

Any advice? Prayers appreciated!

It's possible to test negative when pregnant..

My son9 was that way.. I was about 6 weeks pregnant before I got a positive test.. I had very very few symptoms.. best pregnancy with no sickness at all.

I tested negative (at the doctor's office even) with my dd. Sometimes your hormone levels are just not to the right level to make the test read positive (that is what they told me). I just had to wait and go back in for another test two weeks later. And it read positive.

Have you tried testing upon waking in the AM?

Also, have your temps gone really high? With both of my pregnancies my temp went up as usual and then it went even higher to around 99.

If you are pg God will provide...children are such a blessing!

A few of my children were negative tests for weeks. But they are clearly here now!
It's nice to know that if you are pregnant, that your dh and children will be very happy about it! As for your extended family, a beautiful new baby will certainly win them over, now matter what they think now.
