I was thinking of taking raspberry leafe capsules, I have heard very positive stories about it. I don't like tea in general and I have tasted raspberry leave tea some time ago...ugh...so capsules seem like the way to go. Then I discovered the price
I can buy 40 capsules for 6,95 euro (10,79$) and it says to take 3 times a day 1-2 capsules, so 3 to 6 capsules a day. If I take them for 10 weeks (I'm 29 weeks now), that will cost me 36,48 euro (56,64$ ) - 72,96 euro (113,23$). Is this what you ladies pay? We can afford it...but my frugal side is rearing its head...that much money for something I'm not even sure will help with labor. What to do???
This is my third pregnancy, my first labor lasted 29 hours, my second labor 22 hours. Both times I had contractions every 2-4 minutes from the start, hard, painfull, but not very effective. Dillation still 2cm, until at the end my water broke (second labor: midwive AROM) and the baby was there within 20 minutes. I don't mind the last intense part, it is the first part...those endless hours without much results...I get sooo tired and can handle the pain less and less.....I would really like to change that. But maybe that is not realistic and I should just accept that my body labors in this way? Any advice welcome.

I really am not sure of the cost here.
But there are lots of benefits to the RRL, it tones the uterus so that it may be more effective in labor.. it stengthens the uterine wall and helps relax spasms of the uterus.. which will help contractions be more effective.. it's also a good source of iron and other vit. and minerals. Recovery from birth is also better. It's one of the herbs suggested for helping slow bleeding for instance. It also really helps balance hormones so that you deal with everything better.
There are ways to deal with it other than buying capsules. you can see about the cost of filling your own capsules. I can get the bulk leaf pretty cheaply.
You can make a concentrated tea.. and then just drink a small amount of that followed by a glass of water.. gulp it down quickly and be done.. not have to sit and sip at tea.. I've done that.
I've even, when I couldn't stand the thought of tea, mixed some leaves into apple sauce and swallowed it down with the help of some water.. it helped get my mood back under control so I figure it must have worked ok.

Hi Jodie,
sorry it took so long, I'm having massive computer problems.
I decided to take your advice of making very strong tea and just gulp it down. The thought of drinking 3 glasses of tea is too much, but one I can handle - I think. So far so good.
That is.....untill I went to the only shop I know which sells RRL. Shop gone. So no tea..... Then I decided to order RRL capsules through the internet...after many e-mails, it turns out that the ONLY manufacturor STOPPED selling them. I just can't buy them anywhere in the Netherlands. I can't believe it!!
I have asked a friend in a neighbouring country to try and locate it for me....maybe that will work. Wish me luck
