Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Does anyone have any views on this treatment! I am considering as I am not feeling well at all - a friend has given me a recommendation - the cost is not great - but I have spent enough on traditional doctors even with insurance.

I have not done it, but have a friend who does it regularly and feels it has made great improvements in the way she feels. She says it improves her energy levels and has improved some issues she has with chronic pain.

I have a couple other friends who tried it in order to conceive -- one had success, the other did not.

I have done it and I've had it done to my dd for headaches. She loves it! FOr those fearful of needles, my acupuncturist told me that 4 acupuncture needles could fit in the head of a traditional hypodermic needle. I didn't feel any pain nor did my dd. We both have recieved only benefits from it.

Hi There,

I would have never tried acupuncture had I not seen several friends and their children have amazing results. (Severe food allergies and one friend who was allergic to everything...she couldn't even wash her hair or use any kind of soap...all completely healed!)

The acupuncurist in our area happens to be wonderful and there is no weird eastern spiritual vibe from her or in her office at all.

I have had several treatments for seasonal allergies with a marked improvement. (It's tricky because as soon as I'm cleared of one allergen, others begin to bloom) Anyway I just had the extensive evaluation done where she checks me for allergic reactions...everything from wheat, nuts and dairy, to mold dust, tomatoes, fruits...you name it. It was very informative. If you have this evaluation done and the acupuncturist talks with you extensively about your life, routines, illnesses, etc, it is amazing how they can give you possible cause and effects that you would never hear from a medical Doctor. For example, we figured out that I am allergic to some synthetic fiber in my pillow... I just assumed that my seasonal allergies were causing allergy attacks during the night. After I switched pillows, I have not had any problems.

I had also mentioned to her that my arms break out in a severe rash when I am out in the sun. She said she has treated several people for that very same reaction and they have never been bothered by it again.

Also, the benefit of being treated while pregnant is that your baby is cleared of any allergies as well.

It all seems crazy and weird; however, it does make sense that God would provide a way for us to be healed without synthetic drugs.

Some insurances will partially cover acupuncture treatments as they can be less expensive than DR. visits and the medications/ x-rays/ specialists they tend to prescribe.

I will let you know how my other treatments go..for dairy, sun, etc.

Finding a good acupuncturist without any weird spiritual vibes was the key for me. I would have never tried it had it not been for my faithful Catholic friends who assured me that there was nothing off spiritually about their experiences.

Let me just say, too that medical doctors are wonderful, but sometimes they have a hard time seeing past the science of the symptoms. Sometimes we need someone who will view us as a whole person and truly take the time to ask the right questions. I really appreciated the fact that the acupuncturist did not just say, "Oh, you're just pregnant/hormonal/tired/have too many kids" She really wants to help me feel better.

One more thing...I absolutely hate needles. I am a big chicken when it comes to being stuck by a needle in any way, shape or form. I have never had an epidural because I saw what the needle looks like. That was enough to make me want to suffer through 5 deliveries with no medication...no noble reason here, just plain fear. I can't even feel the acupuncture needles. For whatever reason, they do not bother me at all.

Hope that was helpful...sorry it was kind of all over the place.
