Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hi There,

I have read this book. While I haven't really put everything into practice, I think there is some merit to this. My blood type is A+...according to this book, I should really be a vegetarian, and especially stay away from red meats.

Now, when I am not pregnant, I am fine with red meats a a couple of times a week. When I am pregnant and get a craving for a big juicy burger and proceed to eat one, I always get sick. In fact this just happened last weekend. I did not have the stomach flu...it was the red meat. You'd think with this being my sixth pregnancy that I would remember that this happens every time.

All of this to say that when you are pregnant, your blood volume almost doubles, so according to my--maybe incorrect--logic, I think I would be even more sensitive to those foods I should avoid according to my type. Does that make sense?

Also, as much as I love to play tennis and do cardio kickboxing, I am always exhausted for the rest of the day. If I do pilates or ballet-inspired workouts, I feel really energized. That also goes along with Dr. D's theory. I used a lot of words to say that I tend to agree with some of his theory, however there is always more to the story when it comes to our bodies...this is just one piece to the puzzle.

Some other books I would recommend are: Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon, The Body Ecology Diet by Donna Gates, and any book about a Raw Foods Diet. Now, I certainly do not eat exactly as these books prescribe...in fact some of the ideas seem crazy, however, I have learned a great deal about how the food choices we make affect our bodies, short term and long term health. It has really made me rethink how I feed myself and my children.

I haven't read the books but got a lot of info about them from a friend.. it does make sense that there is something that is different from person to person.. how else do some people do sooo well on an atkins type diet, and others need low fat (and carbs are ok) and others something that limits calories more than specific foods.

I'm also a A+ for blood type.. and red meats don't bother me at all pregnant or not. But I drop weight pretty fast and well on a low fat diet and don't seem to need to drop carbs from my diet like others that find success with the atkins type diets do.
