I found a thread here from 2007 about WW where the Light Weigh weight loss program was mentioned. I've been looking through their website tonight and wanted some input from you ladies here. In the thread it looked like a great deal of 4Real women were interested in the program. I'm wondering if anyone here has been through the program and what they thought about it.
Thanks,

Kathy~
I was in that thread....so I won't repeat my story. Just saying that I love the LW program and plan on doing it again (3rd time through) in June after this baby is born. I like that it is a spiritual weight loss program.....after the weight is off, you use the tools that you learned to lose weight for the rest of your life to overcome other things and grow in the virtues.
We tried to see if LW would have a "private forum" for 4real members, but it didn't pan out. I'm wondering if we should try again????
Have you seen the introductory video? Is it being offered at your parish? Or are you thinking of getting a group together?
My girlfriend in Georgia has lost 80# in a year or so! And, friend in WI has lost 25#, back down to PWW (pre-wedding weight) and has probably another 25# to go....she's started her second session about a month ago.

I'd like to start a group in my parish. I live in a rural area and wonder if I will get enough interested people to pursue a weekly commitment. A few years ago I saw the introductory video from a fellow parishioner, but a group never materialized.
I would be very interested in participating in a group online.

Kathy,
Do you have a local homeschooling group that you're a part of? That's how I got into Light Weigh, not through my parish. Instead of meeting at a church, our group met at the coordinator's home (max. number was about 7-8 people), and it was nice and intimate...we felt safe sharing.
The coordinator's life got hectic, and she asked me to take over for the people who were still interested in LW, so I did. It has been start and stop ever since (not a great thing), but we have a nice core of four ladies to whom I have grown very close. Two of us are expecting any time now, so hopefully we'll have renewed energy once we're past the initial postpartum period.
Anyway, I was successful the first time through, having lost almost 30 lbs, then got off track when dealing w/a miscarriage and the ensuing grief, and now this pregnancy. I expect I will be successful this next time through since I am motivated to lose the baby weight. The spirituality of it is really the most unique aspect and helps so much in times of temptation.
I'd be interested in online support as well.
Valerie

Update:
I coordinated (am coordinating) a Light Weigh program at my little parish. We have a small intimate group. I think this program is phenomenal. I would recommend it to anyone interested in growing in their faith, prayer life or who has a bad habit to get rid of!
As a reult of this program, I have a much more intimate and "friendly" relationship with our Lord and I've lost 20 pounds in ten weeks!

That's great, Kathy! Congratulations on your weight loss AND spiritual growth! That's amazing!
It's funny that you just posted this....I was just checking in here while I had a couple minutes while waiting for my little group to show up here at my house for session #10! I started another series right after this baby was born, and we're almost through . I just started listening to the "Sonflower" tapes again, and they are really good....if you have a chance to get them, they really help.
Again, congratulations!

I did the Light Weigh last winter and lost 16 pounds! I am wearing a size 8-10 now (kinda depends on the brand), and I haven't been that small since early high school!
I couldn't stick to other diets because I just couldn't make myself figure out points/fat grams/carb grams etc, etc, etc, and then keep track of it. On the Light Weigh, you can eat WHATEVER YOU WANT. You are simply learning to control you portion size. The rules are simple and I didn't feel deprived.
Now I'm pregnant, and I'm beginning this pregnancy 20-25 pounds lighter than ANY of my previous pregnancies. So far, this has been the best 1st trimester EVER. I feel a little bit nauseous (just enough to know I'm pregnant) but not too tired.
Before I became pregnant, I noticed that my energy level was so much higher once I lost the weight. I have struggled with depression a lot over the years, and now I wonder if it was related to just being tired all the time because I was carrying around extra weight!
The spirituality aspect of the Light Weigh is great, too. I could go on and on, but I've go a busy day that I need to jump into!
Dawn

Bumping this up.......just for fun! Anyone have any other "Light Weigh Success Stories" to add??
Last I posted, in August, we were toward the end of our session....
DD#5 was born last April 2008, so I think by the end of Oct or so, I'd lost all my preg. weight (about 50#), and I'm back down to about 5 lbs. less than when I got married. I go up and down a pound or two from time to time.
