...that you were breaking down? I just turned 31 and am 5 months, almost 6 months, along with my 4th pregnancy in 6 years. I've gained about 18 pounds which I think is modest and not so quick of a gain to totally account for my tired, tired, tired body. I walk 2 - 3 times a week and eat fairly nutritiously, with a few hamburgers thrown in here and there. Is it just that I'm not as new of a model as I once was?? ROFL! TIA.

Get a GOOD food based vitamin.. the cheapest way I know is from http://www.vitacost.com and get the Rainbow Light Complete Prenatal System.

And the ones you get from the doc or walmart or such are NOT generally the good food based vits. If you look it up at vitacost.. you can see the amounts (much higher than most) and the food based means that your body can much more easily use them.

I started a simliar vitamin (more costly) during my 4th pregnancy and WOW what a difference. I went from being unable to do anything but lock the doors and doze for about 2 hours every afternoon to hardly feeling tired during that time.

How about that.. thinking about it.. my #4 was born in 2001 and so I would have been 31 then too. and my oldest had been born in 1997.. so very comparable to where you are.

Thank you, Jodie. It's funny you mentioned that vitamin b/c I'd never heard of it until recently when my (new) midwife mentioned it to me. I have been taking it. Do you think it matters what time of day I take it? I have always taken my prenatals at night to avoid feeling the nausea while I'm awake.

are you taking the complete system? that's 6 a day.. and yes it will matter.. your body can only absorb so much at once. So spreading them out over the day makes a difference. At the moment I'm taking them 3 at breakfast and 3 at dinner though my goal is to get 2 each at breakfast, lunch and dinner... I've never been nauseous with them as long as I get them with food. Plus that lets me take my calcium at night which helps with any heartburn and manages to avoid anything that could block absorbsion.

Oh and I usually need 9 hrs sleep while pregnant.. rather than my typical 8. Strugglign right now to get that (I'm not) but hopefully I'll get the kinks worked out so I will.

Also make sure you're getting enough water.. being dehydrated can make you feel tired too. I probably drink a gallon or more of water per day while pregnant.

Oh and how long have you been taking them? It took around 4 days for it to really make a difference for me.. but I was already taking food based vitamins in a lower dose so I probably wasn't too low on stuff.. perhaps you just need longer for your body to get "caught up"

Hey never heard of these... I definitely am going to try these.

And Dawn, my answer to your question would have been this pregnancy at 37... but I didn't get married until I was 30!

Oh no..totally NOT on the complete system! I just take one a day. I've been taking it for about a month. Before that I was always taking store brand prenatals... and have never stopped, actually, b/c of pregnancies and breastfeeding. How do you take your calcium?

I use a liquid calcium.. the one I use is apparently very hard to find but the health food store in a neighboring town carries it and I can call and have it shipped.

It's Vita Vista Cal-Mag-Zinc liquid

you can find other brands of liquid calcium though. I think it being liquid is what helps so much with the heartburn.. much much to get a calcium supplement with an easily useable form of calcium and use than than something like tums which is a very difficult to absorb form of calcium

Dawn-this one is killin' me. 5th preg in 7 years. i'm 37. i just don't remember being so exhausted with body aches/pains with the other ones.

You have A LOT of littles right now!!! It is HARD! You are going all day just to take care of the babes on the outside and your body is taking care of the one on the inside.

I second the Rainbow Light vitamins. They do NOT make nauseous. I'm not taking all six. Maybe 3 or 4.

I also need 9 hours of sleep at night, along with about 1.5 hrs. of horizontal time during the afternoon. After the first trimester, I don't sleep during this time, but I have to give my body a break.

I completely felt like I was coming apart. . .like there were screws and parts missing with # 5. I didn't really think I could ever be pregnant again after that pregnancy. Looking back at pictures of me I looked terrible in my face, felt terrible (I always feel nauseated but this was worse).

Strangely, this last pg-#6 was still plagued with the terrible nausea but I didn't have that feeling that I was going to physically fall apart, I didn't look as bad in the pictures and I even went 9 days later and was OK. This baby is calm.

Number 5 is a very difficult child. . .SOOOOO wonderful, but SOOOOOO draining. My pregnancies have seemed to match the children's personalities. Number 5 could not be monitired in labor-he was too active (still is), he ended up with a scalp electrobe to monitor his heartrate (I'm high risk--so no natural childbirth).

Anyway, I babbled on. Maybe the vitamins will help. When I'm pg just looking at the vitamin bottle meant .

I know....doncha hate that? I very rarely let myself be photographed when pregnant While I was taking pics at the pumpkin patch last weekend of dh and dc....a gal asked if i'd like to be in the picture. I practically shouted at her, "NO!!!!"    Then, in a little bit "softer" voice, "but thank you anyway."

I'm certainly feeling like I'm falling apart here -- expecting number 4 at the age of 35. My previous pregnancies were an absolute breeze. (And they were close together.) This time, I'm wiped out.

Vitamins help a little (I use a good one too that is a 6 a day), but #6 at age 37 has wiped me out. I can tell I don't look good because people keep asking me, "How are you feeling?" in that sad sort of way... I didn't expect it to be that different from #5 at 34ish, but it is. Plus, I have more guilt about not being able to do things than I did before, because I have a preteen and a teen in the house.
