Can anyone explain estrogen and progesterone to me? With relation to the monthly cycle, pregnancy and postpartum? I feel a little ignorant. I have been told that my "progesterone is probably returning" - does this mean my fertility is returning - I am only 3 months postpartum and still nursing around the clock. The docs are saying that all the various allergies and illness have been hormone related and things will settle down. Hmm. Usually my fertility does not return until at least 6 months when the baby goes on solids and starts sleeping more.

Marilyn, I've never been able to sort it all out either. On one hand I was told (and read) that returning progesterone did not mean cycles returning, then on the other, it did.   I am 2 months pp and my cycle returned two days ago, nursing two around the clock...
