Is this what the docs think has been causng you so much grief?
My mother has had this...let me see if I can remember. Dry eyes were her primary complaint, she has drops she used. I think she is also supposed to scrub her eyelids with baby soap.
I'll have to ask her for more info, but the baby is nursing...

Marilyn,
I just came from the eye doctor with that diagnosis on Tuesday! I've been getting really irritated eyes, one in particular -- inflamed, irritated, feels like something is in my eye and I can't wash it out. So the doctor said I severe dry eye, which happens with hormone fluctuations and age. My mother had it, too. Your eyes not only make tears, but also produce oil to keep them moist. Blepharitis seems to cause slowing down of oil production, clogging of the ducts, and/or more gooey secretions rather than thinner and better flow.
I have a regimen to follow for a week or so. Sometimes they use oral antibiotics which we don't want right now.
Warm compresses over the eye, afterward some lid massage to activate the ducts, cleaning the lower eyelid with a pea size of baby shampoo lightly diluted, and then OTC preservative free eye drops used periodically.
He gave me a sheet of instructions, and I'll be happy to share them with you.

Marilyn........this sounds like something that would respond well to homeopathic treatment, esp a constitutional remedy. Maybe there is homeopathic MD or practioner somewhere in your area?

Marilyn,
We've had a bad case of pinkeye over here too.

I had blepharitis for about 2 years and mostly used warm compresses. I think wearing contact lens for 20 years or so didn't help . Just wanted to say that it did go away !! And no more contacts...

Just to let you know - after seeing a third opthamologist they have diagnosed severe dry eye and meibobian gland dysfuntion/atrophy. Probably worsened by hormones and the bleph. I am doing the the warm compresses, baby shampoo etc
