Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

My 5 yr old dd has a sore right under her lower lip. She is not sure what started it. it is getting bigger(about a quarter of an inch in diameter) and is slowly drying up, but because of the location, that is hard to do because she tends to drip liquids on it and sometimes licks it. It was pus-filled the other day but that has dried up. She says it really bothers her. It looks awful.

I am wondering what to put on it to help it clear up. Any ideas?

Molly,

Do you have any calendula ointment? It works well for these kinds of sores - it speeds healing AND gives it a bit of a barrier. It also has a mild anti-viral activity and is an antiseptic.

That would be my recomendation too!

DS just had stiches on his forhead and with calendula on it constantly it healed very nicely.

Thanks! I use that on little bottoms, I guess it can work on little faces too!

Molly--Impetigo often showns up on little faces and looks oozy at first then dry and crusty...if that happens to be the case, calendula or tea tree may work, or any neosporin-type ointment.
