Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

What are the dimensions for your altar for the atrium activities?

I can't remember where I saw instructions for making one's own...

I'm thinking the top is about 18 x 24 inches and it stands maybe 14-16 inches off the floor.

Peace,
Nancy

I'm using an old TV stand for our altar. It's 14.5 inches deep and 24 inches wide and has two shelves. The top is 21" off the floor.

Ours is 30"wide x 24" deep, and about 18 inches from the ground - it has no shelves or storage, though, just four legs.

I know that there are directions for making your own mini altar that are included with the miniature Mass kit (purchased from Our Father's House).

HTH!

Moira's altar directions calls for an altar that is 11 3/16" x 18" and the legs are 18" high (but put inside the altar probably raises the height to 19" or so.) It looks like a great plan (because you can put the legs inside and store it if you wanted), but it was more than we could make right now.

By the way, Jenn - we're making progress on our homemade altar (due to all the snow days!) We're not done - so I can't show the finished product, but here's more details...

I bought a $20 chest of crate drawers from AC Moore -- dh stained it a dark walnut and it looks so much better so far. (no pictures yet)

Then I put a piece of plywood to 12" x 24"(Home Depot will do this for you) on top. Moira's altar cloth still hangs a little on each side, but if you want it to hang more -- do it 18" wide. I also put the iron-on wood to each side to finish the sides of the plywood. (Had all this at home from other projects...)

Not sure if we'll use screws, glue, or L brackets to fix the plywood to the chest of drawers yet...

Each of the three drawers comes out of the little chest (perfect for little guys). I'm going to line the drawers with velvet (or satin). And use little wood boxes as dividers inside the drawers for each of the objects. When it's done, it will stand 19" high.

Here's the rough picture just so you can see what a mean by a crate chest of drawers... it's also a crooked picture Our "tabernacle" to be spray painted is on top too.

Until we're done -- we're using the boys' little table.

And Patty -- a TV stand sounds like a great idea!
