Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Just noticed that Amy has two sets of Base Ten blocks listed at the Trading Post Base Ten

Fwiw we have used these successly in place of the Montessori bead material for many years. Thought I would throw that out there in case anyone is trying to pull together materials for fall.

Thanks for the plug, Kim.

This is exactly what we used them for. Between the base ten and the cuisenaire rods (which I'm also about to list, lol) we had nice "substitute bead" material.

LOL, I would - but since switching to Math U See (which has its own kind of rods) my daughter, who gets confused easily, just couldn't take having THREE different kinds of blocks around. In the name of decluttering and tiny houses with no storage space, we decided to just go with Math U See and all it entails, and ditch the other stuff. That was a tough decision for this curriculum junkie, let me tell you!

Amy, I almost went with Math U See just for the manipulatives. (In the end I just couldn't afford the switch - especially since I already had another program on my shelf.) BUT, I liked the way the Math U See blocks connected and thought they could even be used for some of the Montessori Bead Material exercises.

Ok don't quote me on this but at the school supply store a couple weeks ago I saw some base ten blocks that looked more like legos. I *think* they connected but I was in a rush so I just grabbed the regular blocks (where were you Amy?? ; )) and headed out. They were hollow for sure but what you do with them I couldnt swear to. Might be worth checking though. They were all about the same price.
