Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I was wanting to pin poking to cut out shapes with my kids and can't seem to find any place to buy the supplies. Does anyone know what tool you need? I have old pieces of carpet to put underneath. I just don't know the name of the tool!

Montessori Services sells a long handled tool that is held like a pencil for the poking.

But a push pin works just fine too - and forces a more proper writing grasp.

Other than that, stiff paper if you are using carpet underneath - or cork board if they want to use thinner paper.

They can trace or draw any shapes of choice :)

We use the giant push pins instead of the tool. My daughter seems to like that better. Found our giant push pins at Staples but I think any office supply store would have them.

We like to trace basic wooden puzzle shapes then use the push pin to punch them out. For example, if you have a wooden puzzle that has shapes on it, it's a tactile way to learn the shapes.

You can also just stick the head of an embroidery needle into a wine cork. Works great!

What a great idea! Plus, it is a great excuse to open a bottle of wine!
