Because of the general hectic nature of life our boys (4.5 and 2.5) are watching lots of movies right now. They're very into all the Pixar films, and they're also versed heavily in Doctor Who. I'm reading The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe to my older son because he's required to love fantasy and Lewis and Tolkien :) We talk about everything they've watched and we do crafts and research (e.g. looking up sea creatures and talking about the differences between fish and mammals after watching Finding Nemo).
Any suggestions for good movies/videos for four and under?

I love the Winnie the Pooh movies for the younger crowd.. The Tigger Movie and The Huffalump Movie and Piglet's Big Movie there's just something so likeable and the humor really appeals to the younger kids.

My current 2 year old loves the Curious George movie. The BBC Beatrix Potter DVDs. Little Bear (the TV series). Old Star Trek movies. LOL.

Yeah, we have two little boys who've watched a TON of science fiction- Star Trek, Deep Space Nine, Doctor Who. I keep thinking we should get Star Wars just to balance things out....

My littles adore Little Bear, and so do I . Milo and Otis, the Pooh movies, and Charlotte's Web are all favorites as well. Very sweet, gentle humor in all of the above, and a sense of wonder and calm as well, which is hard to find in children's films.

Any of the Beatrix Potter books on DVD were a favorite for those ages in this house.
I'm nearly anti Disney...so I don't know about any of those.
We love science shows. I have old ones of baby animals and development. I do let them borrow Muzzy (spanish) from the library and some Shirley Temple movies.
I also let them borrow books on DVD such as Eric Carle books.

I'm late chiming in, but my 3 yo has really enjoyed Blue's Clues. My oldest watched it years ago - and then numbers 2 & 3 missed it all together. So it's been fun to rediscover on Netflix (it streams instantly in my area). That oldest boy still runs across the house to watch Steve "skidoo" into pictures with Blue. Pretty cute.
Lots of other sweet programs are available on Netflix, so it's worth checking out.
