Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I wanted to mention this here and give it a big plug!!!! Simply Charlotte Mason has now published a new compilation of Charlotte Mason's thoughts on the preschool years - The Early Years: A Charlotte Mason Preschool Handbook. I'm reading it and I find it quite refreshing! Right now, it is being offered at an introductory price until November 18.

The books offered by Simply Charlotte Mason gather some of Miss Mason's thoughts from her 6 volume set into a nice little bouquet on a particular subject. What I love in particular about the Simply Charlotte Mason books is the *wide margin* on the sides of the pages of all their books. For those of us that make notes as we read this is very nice!

I never tire of refreshing my thoughts on how I approach subjects with a Charlotte Mason flavor, and the preschool years are no exception. Miss Mason's philosophies bespeak a gentleness that is lovely and do-able by all. I'm finding this particularly refreshing right now as I have a preschooler this year. I think Miss Mason's thoughts and philosophies allow a home educating mother to relax into a more natural rhythm with her younger children that is gentle and approaches and sets up learning in a beautiful way that lays a foundation of gentleness for the years to come!

If you are struggling with a preschooler and the rhythm or pace before you and feeling it unnatural for your family, I highly recommend this book as well as Simply Charlotte Mason's, [URL=http://simplycharlottemason.com/books/laying-down-rails-charlotte-mason-habits/]Laying Down the Rails[/URL! What a lovely way to start the preschool years!
