Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

my ds is 6 and he knows all of his letter sounds but can only blend sounds in words with great frustration. He has a phonics "workbook" which he dislikes very much. I should mention that he has no problem looking at the pictures and writing the letters that each word starts/ends with...he just doesn't like it at all.

How do you teach the blending?

I should have mentioned that i am a new homeschooler.

What is your goal? Teaching him to read the blends fluently, or spell them?

If reading is the goal, perhaps the two of you could make up sentences using the blends.   That's what I was doing with my 6 year old today and he enjoyed it.

If spelling is the goal, you could try building words. Write a few letters on a piece of paper, including the ones in the words you want him to spell.   Then he could use that letter bank to spell the words you want him to know.

There are these Montessori blue cards in pdf and here is an explanation of how they can be used.
