Does anyone have game or other birthday gift suggestions for 4 year old girl? I try not to buy a bunch of "junk" but I havent found anything that she just LOVES. We have lots of cool boy things; marble runs, legos, playmobil. She says she likes "girly" things, yet she mostly plays Peter Pan or Joan of Arc with whatever is availbale. She doesnt play with the few dolls she has. She does seem to enjoy games and puzzles. I would appreciate any ideas!

Lets see - I have 2 4 year old girls, what do they play with?
Games - Uno, Crazy 8s, Old Maid, War, Go Fish. For some reason they like to have decks specific to each game, Connect 4, Tic Tac Toe Boards, Chutes and Ladders, Candy Land, Checkers (with help)
Toys - Bubbles, play doh, chalk, dry erase board and markers, Leap Pads, Aqua Doodle, Play kitchen items (esp child size broom and mop), activity books
That is all I can come up with right now, hope it helps.

Does she like dress-up? My girls love their silks from Magic Cabin.

I think I may have asked this same question last year!!! The silk scarf suggestion is so familiar! She does like dress up so I think I will try it. Sometimes I feel I must be missing some great girly toys maybe just because I think the boy toys are so cool! But Angi, items you listed are basically the same as what we have so in a way I am comforted. I will also look into the Connect 4 and Tic Tac Toe Boards. Thanks so much!!

My 4 year old loved getting "The Touch" game. It is fun and challenging for the whole family and it gets lots of use. There are expansion sets too.

Sunny: were you describing your daughter or mine?
I feel guilty for not finding more girly things for her but they are often and besides, her big brother's toys are so much fun ... what to do?
last Christmas I found a lot of beautiful wooden puzzles on Amazon. these from Willow Tree Toys were a little pricey but fulfilled both the girly and hands-on requirements (and reminded me of my Waldorfy childhood.) both she and her brother love playing with them both, FWIW. sorry I can't figure out how to do the link, but here they are:
Blooming Flower:

Rainbow Tunnel Puzzle and Stacker:
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012J7WKE/ref=ox_ya_oh_product
(oh, and I'm not necessarily recommending this, but her 4th birthday was last week and she got a set of bongos, which have been a big hit with EVERYBODY ... well, maybe not the neighbors )

Three girls, all much older than four, but this is what I remember:
1. Tea set. A 4yo is just about ready for a ceramic one, and there are so many, from all different price points out there! Get a "food safe" one and she can have "real" tea parties with water in the pot and crackers on the little plates.
2. Cooking set. Same idea as 1, but a different way of playing. I've seen metal ones with pots, pans etc. for about ten bucks, but again, there are all sorts out there if you want a specific quality. Pair it with a child's apron and you're good to go.
3. Ribbon dancer toy. Basically a length of colorful ribbon on a stick. You can make one if you're not me and totally craft impaired; otherwise they're available at many toy stores and online.
4. Doll "accessories." Cradle, stroller, mini baby sling, feeding sets, etc. If she has dolls already but needs a bit of doll furnishing she might enjoy some of these things.
5. Okay, totally plastic, but my girls will still, at 13, 12 and 11 play with a Fisher-Price doll house like this one. Funny true story: Years ago when they were little I wanted them to have a vintage wooden house, we had very little money at the time, we bought a used one at an antique store and fixed it up (we thought), my oldest grabbed her "Scooby-Doo" characters (she was into Scooby-Doo, the old TV episodes) and announced in a loud voice: "Hey, gang! Let's go explore this spooky old house!" So a while later when the house was in a truly dilapidated heap in the garage we broke down and bought our youngest the plastic one.

Love that story!
As for girly game ideas, we have this tea party game, which would be perfect for her age, even though it says for age 5 and up. I also really like our Pretty, Pretty Princess game. Unfortunately, they are now making them with a Disney princess theme, so the one I have is listed at an unbelievable $50. The Disney one is only $15 and it is fine, I just prefer to stay away from character toys when possible.

How about some girly Playmobile sets? We have a house and dd has been drooling over a princess set.
I second (or is it third now) dress up clothes.
Games are a big hit here. Some that we like that haven't been mentioned yet are: Cootie, Hi Ho Cheerio, Scrabble, Jr., and Hungry, Hungry Hippos.
Art supplies and an easel are well loved also. DD likes to draw and cut things out a lot so she has her own paper, white and construction. New crayons, markers, colored pencils, and paints, as well as craft supplies, like pom poms, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, clay, etc. would be great too.

This could just be my girls, but I've been thinking about this in terms of longevity. The stuff they liked to play with when they were 4 and still like to play with now that they're 6 and 7 are their dress-up clothes (scarves and cloaks and old fitted sheets and the slip from my wedding dress - I should have invested in those darn play silks.)
The second best toy they have is a magna doodle. They love drawing and they can use this anywhere - anytime. Come to think of it, all my kids at all ages appreciate this toy...the "travel" size has held up the best.
