Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

When my dc were younger they enjoyed scooping and pouring dry pinto beans in a large plastic bin.

I recently tried putting out the pinto bean bin with a bunch of our plastic dinosaurs thrown in. They are loving this! For some reason the dinosaurs just look so cool in there in all the beans... you can't help wanting to play with them.

That sounds so fun! It's amazing what will draw them in, isn't it? Thanks for sharing!

I will definitely have to try this. I have tried to avoid tubs of rice or sane or beans in the house but I think my 5yo boy would still LOVE it.

Melinda - You have a great way of jogging my memory! This does sound like loads of fun for my little guy! I had to remove so many of the Montessori items for him because of the littlest getting in to too much...but this would be such a delight in a big dishwashing tub at the kitchen table. Dinosaurs in anything is usually a hit here!

I was thinking of some variations on the pinto beans and dinosaurs...

**lentils and cookie cutter shapes
**rice and shape blocks
**kidney beans and ABC letters

Very fun variation to add an item to the beans, Melinda! Thanks for the idea!

Thank you for this idea! I added this tray over the weekend and it has kept both of my boys busy for ages.
