Hi all!
Well, this is one place I don't frequent, having a just graduated 18yo, a 16yo, and a 13yo!
But our daughter and I just joined a co-op for this year, and they chose my two K-3 classes, each 8 weeks long that I have to now develop to teach.
I haven't taught K-3 in quite some time (though I taught 2nd grade Reconciliation class a few years back), but LOVE this age group, so I'm really looking forward to teaching them.
My first session is Animals, Animals, Animals, where we're going to learn about classifying animals, and learning about different animals, habitats, etc.
The second session class will be an Intro to Music, where we'll learn a few basics about music, listen to some music, sing, and play instruments (maybe even make our own). Both classes will have a notebooking component to it.
If any of you have any good websites, units, ideas, or thoughts and wisdom on these two subjects that you can share, I'd really appreciate it. I know I can do this on my own, but love to really tap into what others have done and their experience.
Thanks!
Tracy

Tracy, Lori at Montessori for Everyonehas some beautiful charts and three part cards about animals. I've used them at home for learning about animals.
Oh, there's more, but I started posting this before really pulling a list together.
I'll get back to you.

I'm going to second Lori's site, Tracy, but not sure how well it would work in a co-op environment.
I'm thinking....if it were me (and it's not, but you asked) and having done a co-op in the past teaching this age group, I prefer to keep it really simple. I might sketch out an outline of the different classifications of animals and come up with something really simple for the notebooks, but I think I'd probably just borrow a lot of picture books from the library and read a lot. I love Jan Brett's books and she has an EXTRAORDINARY website with so many printables that you could use for your class!! I thought of her Noah's Ark murals immediately for you. I could link to so many more that would be perfect, but take a look - this is her activities page with links to sooooo many printables. Since many of her books are based on animals, I would think you could do an entire unit on her. It would be so much fun because you could coordinate activities with the books and she's offered you all the work for free! Here are all of her books!
Hope this is helpful! Have fun with the littles!
